So this weekend was pretty much AMAZING. I met Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, Miss America, Caressa Cameron, and I also received my Duke of Edinburgh award.
The weekend went like this:
Wednesday: Courtney Cisson (Miss Columbia) and I drove up to her house in Greenville to spend the night.
Thursday: We got up at 6 and went running, and let me tell you, it was GREAT. (I'm hoping you can sense my sarcasticness) But I love Courtney so I pushed through! After that, we went back to her house and got ready for the day, took her dresses to her mom's school for her to try on for her mom, went to get Courtney's nails done, went to her appointment with Gregory Ellenburg, got everything packed up and in the car, Courtney sat down in the car and her dress RIPPED, so we went to Dillard's got her 2 dresses and headed out to lunch with Miss America! All the contestants who got a grand sponsor were able to attend the lunch. Caressa is such a nut and she reminds me a lot of my sister queen Terrilyn which made me very happy because Terrilyn couldn't be with us over the weekend. After the lunch was over, we headed out to the wilderness!! We stayed at Camp Spearhead outside of Marietta, SC. We got our tent set up and everything unpacked and immediatly had to get ready for the "Evening of Dreams." We had the privilege of having the prince and Miss America to eat dinner with us. That night we went back to our campsite and slept in the tents! (sleeping in the wilderness was a part of receiving your duke of edinburg award)
Friday: Got up early, ate some homemade poptarts and muffins and went on a hike through the woods... for about ten minutes. haha. It was a very short hike! We then proceeded to go to the high ropes course. Marty, the main dude at the camp, picked the first 16 girls to go up and I was in the first group. I was very happy! The first thing my group did was the swing. Marty hooks you up to a harness and these wires and it's a pully system. The girls pull a rope and it pulls you up to about forty feet and you let go of a rope and swing. It is sooo much fun! The high ropes course was crazy, too. It was 50 feet in the air and if you made it to the top, you got to sign a tree stump. My signature is officially on the stump :) After we were finished with that, we headed back to our campsites and made some lunch. That night we were in the Scottish Games parade at 5. That night, Miss America and Prince Edward came down to the campsites to have smores with us. The prince had never had a smore before and the sad thing was that he never actually got to eat one, he only got to eat the cooked marshmallow. BOO! But it was still fun. And because of terrible weather that night, we got to stay in the cabins. YAY! But it was the most hilarious thing watching all these girls sprint as fast as they could back to their campsites to get all their stuff and make it back to the cabins so that we could get a bed to sleep in that night. Thankfully I got a bed, I was a very happy camper! (pun completely intended)
Saturday: We participated in the Scottish Games Saturday morning which included axe throwing, long bow archery, throwing an 8 pound rock, and tossing a 14 pound ball and chain thingy. I was terrible at everything. haha. But I still had a ton of fun! The other girls did really awesome though and I was very proud of them! That night was the Garden Party where all of our families came to see us receive our Duke of Edinburgh award from the prince. I received the bronze award and will be participating next year again so that I can receive my silver award. After that, we went back to the campsite, packed up everything, and I left with Courtney and our friend Caroline Trawick (Miss Greater Carolina) and we ate at Monterrey's and had a little sleepover. Good times.
Sunday: Production Rehearsal from 8:00 AM- 5:30 PM. It was a lot of dancing and I am not a dancer whatsoever. I'm just gonna stick to singing. haha. But the opening number and finale are gonna look great and I can't wait to see the finished program. Courtney and I drove back that night and I was so happy to be home. It was such a great weekend and I'm so glad that I participated. It was great getting to know all the girls more and I can't wait for pageant week!!
